Leading Edge Word Processing software manual complete scan. This manual consisted of 368
pages that detailed the operation of the Leading Edge Word Processing software. This is a
complete scan of all of the documents contained within the Leading Edge Word Processing
software's binder.
The manual was contained within a small three‐ring binder that was contained in a greater PC big‐box package. The binder was white in color and did not have any embellishments on it other than a label on the spine. The spine label had the Leading Edge triple‐triangle logo at the top and below the logo was "LEADING EDGE" in black text on a red background. In the middle of the binder's spine read, "LEADING EDGE ™ WORD PROCESSING WITH MERGE PRINT AND SPELLING CORRECTION 256K MEMORY". At the bottom of the binder's spine was another "LEADING EDGE" in black on a red background.
Inside of the binder, the inner portion was blue with a metal three ring binder mechanism to hold the otherwise loose‐leaf manual together. This method of manual‐making was likely to keep costs lower, but it did have the added benefit that if a user needed one specific piece of information, then the user could have removed one or two pages needed, although there was the caveat that pages could have been lost more easily or the manual jumbled due to carelessness.
Residing with the loose‐leaf manual was an installation guide, quick reference guide, keyboard overlay, and the software on three 5.25" 360 KB disks.
The manual covered many topics for operating the software which were broken up into a preliminaries section, a tutorial, 27 chapters, eight appendices, and an index. The manual was laid‐out in such a way, and covered the software so comprehensively, that even a new user could not have become lost without trying to do so.
